Your preparation is made at our own compounding bench on Bathurst Street, in the same room and by the same hands as the medications we compound to prescription. It is not a tub we bought in and put our name on.

Checked against what you already take
Before anything is made, a pharmacist puts your formula beside your medication list. Some of these ingredients interact with common medicines — turmeric with blood thinners, for one — and the only way to know is for somebody to look.

A formula is not a subscription. If the next one should be different — another form, a different amount, one ingredient out — you say so at the counter and the next batch is different. Nothing renews on its own.

We will tell you if the answer is no
Some ingredients need a prescriber. Some preparations we are not permitted to compound. And sometimes the honest answer is that you do not need it at all. A pharmacist looks at every preparation before we agree to make it, and you get the real answer either way.

Your formula, made here
Most of what people ask us for is a combination, not a single vitamin. If you want two or three things together, in one preparation, that is a conversation worth having.
- A combination — several ingredients in one capsule instead of several bottles.
- A different form of the same mineral. Magnesium, for one, comes in more than one form.
- An amount worked out with the pharmacist rather than taken off a label.
- If there is a filler, dye or coating you would rather avoid, say so and we will tell you what we can do.

Name the ingredients you have in mind. If a practitioner suggested a combination, bring that. If you are not sure, bring the bottles you are taking now.

What a combination actually looks like
These are combinations we already prepare, written the only way a page like this should write them: what is in them, and nothing else. The form, the amounts and whether any of it suits you are worked out with the pharmacist.

Before you call: four things to have ready
None of it is required. It just makes one phone call do the work of three.
- The ingredients you have in mind. Even roughly. “Magnesium, but not the one that upsets my stomach” is a fine place to start.
- What you are taking now. The prescriptions and anything off a shelf. Reading the bottles down the phone is fine; so is bringing the bag in.
- Anything you would rather avoid. A dye, a filler, a coating, gelatin, an allergen. Say it up front and it goes on the record before anything is prepared.
- A good time to reach you. If we need to think about it, or speak to your prescriber, we will call you back rather than keep you holding.

Can you make a custom dose?
That is the whole reason to talk to us rather than buy off a shelf. A pharmacist can look at your situation and your other medicines and talk through the right form and amount for you, instead of you guessing from a label. Call 416-789-1800.
Can you combine several supplements into one?
Often, yes. Several of the formulas we already prepare are combinations, like curcumin with black pepper, or spirulina and chlorella in one daily capsule. Tell the pharmacist which ingredients you have in mind and we will go through the form and the amounts with you, and check them against your prescriptions. Call 416-789-1800.
Is there anything you cannot make?
Yes. Some ingredients need a prescription, some we are not permitted to compound, and for some the honest answer is that you do not need it. We look at every preparation before we agree to make it, and we will tell you plainly if the answer is no. Call 416-789-1800.
Can I order a custom formula online?
No, and we want to be straight about that. There is no cart, no checkout and no price list on this page. A preparation made to your formula is reviewed by a pharmacist and handed over in person, after a short conversation, so we can check it against what you already take. Is a custom preparation Health Canada regulated?
A product sold as a licensed natural health product in Canada carries a product number (an NPN). A preparation a pharmacist compounds for you at your request is a different thing: it is made for you under the pharmacist’s own professional responsibility, it does not carry an NPN, and it is not sold as a licensed product. We would rather walk you through exactly what it is and how it is prepared than make claims about it here. Ask the pharmacist: 416-789-1800.
How much does a custom formula cost?
We do not list prices online, and it is worth saying why rather than leaving you to guess. What a preparation costs depends on how many ingredients are in it, the form it is made in, and how much is made at a time — so a single number on a web page would be wrong for most of the people reading it. We go through it with you before anything is made, and we will be plain about it. Call 416-789-1800.
Do I need an appointment?
No. You can call 416-789-1800, or walk in and ask for the pharmacist. If it is busy we will find a quiet moment, because this is a conversation worth not rushing.
